Honouring and recognizing ace director Ang Lee for his efforts in netting India as many as 4 Academy Awards for the critically acclaimed blockbuster “Life of Pi”, the Government of India conferred the state’s 4th highest civilian honour, the prestigious Padma Shri, on him.

Speaking exclusively to The UnReal Times movies correspondent Panjeev Pasand, President Pranab Mukherjee said, “Phew! For a change, it feelsh good to award shomeone with shomething other than death. Ang Lee shaab hash made one of the mosht wonderful films on India and hash brought ush sho many Oshcarsh – for thish, he deshervesh nothing lesh than the Padmashri!” When questioned on why Danny Boyle, the director of the India-based Oscar-sweeping movie “Slumdog Millionaire”, wasn’t bestowed with a similar honour, Mukherjee retorted, “It portrayed India in a bad light. Why should we honour shuch moviesh?”

Bollywood star, Shahid Kapoor, was one of the first to congratulate the hotshot director by tweeting: “Happy for Angle :) …Congo on ur wards :)”.

An already thrilled Lee was beside himself with joy upon hearing the news. “Wow man! I don’t know what I’ve done to receive such a huge honour from the Indian government. I’m super-touched! This means more to me than some meagre golden statuettes! Thank you so much, India! I love you and I hope to shoot many more movies here! Namaste and Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai,” cooed the Taiwan born director.

However, an emotional Lee became distraught and fainted when he was told that with this honour  he has joined an elite club comprising the likes of Saif Ali Khan.
