Chetan Bhagat made news once again on Sunday morning by writing, as is the fashion these days, an open letter to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, urging him to support his arch rival, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, as NDA’s Prime Ministerial candidate.

Nitish, however, has expressed disappointment over the letter. “Like any young Indian, I too, am a huge fan of Chetan Bhagat’s books. I have read all his books, except the one after ‘Revolution 2020′. I don’t even remember its name now. I was so thrilled when I heard that Chetan Bhagat has written an open letter just for me. In all of Chetan’s works of fiction, there’s usually a love-making scene between a boy and girl, after a few pages. This scene, coupled with a few other ones in latter stages of the book, is one of the many reasons why people eagerly look forward to reading his books.

I too eagerly clicked on his open letter, looking forward to a few moments of titillation. I raced through his banal lines of gratuitous political advice, anticipating the build-up for an awesome love making scene, probably set in the rural hinterland of Bihar but there seemed to be nothing and by the time I came to the end of the letter, I was so disappointed. Really bad, Chetan! A letter to someone from Bihar about Bihar needed special status from you and you chose not to give it that. Bad letter,” the Chief Minister said.

Nitish has also reportedly slammed Bhagat for taking the side of a “communal” party. However, rushing to the latter’s defense was none other than Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan. “Just like me, Bhagat is being targeted because of his last name. People are questioning whether he bears allegiance to rebellious patriotism.” Taking a cue from SRK was former Indian fast bowler Chetan Sharma, who said that Chetan is being thrashed around the park because of his first name.

Significant protests have emerged in Tamil Nadu, calling for a ban on Chetan Bhagat’s hand, as it is apparently the source of much offensive content. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has reportedly acceded to their demand, due to security reasons. “Damn! Kai Poche,” Chetan is supposed to have fumed.
