Hundreds of social media users uploaded selfies with their Tatkal tickets after they successfully booked them on the IRCTC website – a phenomenon once considered near-impossible, but now rendered easy, thanks to the site’s recent upgrading and revamp.
#SelfieWithTatkalTicket quickly became the top trend, as tweeple uploaded pictures of themselves, posing gleefully with the booking confirmation page on their computer screens. “If this isn’t a cause for celebration, then what is?” raved S. Gowda, a frequent train traveler.
“For years, I took on the challenge of booking a Tatkal ticket with a never-say-die attitude. But the previous IRCTC website could kill even the world’s biggest optimist. Now, after all these years of pain, torture and nightmares of ‘Service unavailable’, to finally see the my booking confirmation page is a crowning moment of glory. I promptly clicked a selfie, flashing all my 32 teeth, and uploaded it on Twitter and Facebook,” a smiling Gowda told The UnReal Times.
Officials at IRCTC mirrored Gowda’s feelings. “This is nothing. Wait until IRCTC is able to process 7200 reservations per minute. People will literally order crates of beer and skip out dancing onto their streets when they get their tatkal tickets booked in the blink of an eye,” said an IRCTC official with a broad smile.
However, satire websites, did not look amused with the turn of events. “Kya yaar? Apart from Arvind Kejriwal and Arnab Goswami, IRCTC was one of our standard fall-back options for humour that would always click. Why did they have to do this to us?” wailed a columnist from The UnReal Times.
