Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, who has come under heavy criticism over the past few days for his inept handling of the ongoing Delhi protests, attempted a healing touch by visiting Vijay Chowk, the epicenter of raging student led protests,  dressed up as a smiling, cherubic Santa.

The police force as well as the crowd was stunned on seeing the government’s very own Santa, as he alighted from a makeshift horse-carriage, screaming – “HO HO HO !! Merrrrrry Christmas, everybody!”  Initially the protesters couldn’t make out Santa’s identity but the mystery slowly started unraveling itself, as Shinde began to make asinine comments such as, “Being Shri Santa is fun, but you guys should realize how much it takes to come and cheer people, even on a holiday like this!”

Looking at the rather puzzled look on some of the protesters’ faces, Santa Shinde continued in his inimitable fashion, saying, “What?! Don’t look at me like like that! Today you guys are celebrating Christmas. Tomorrow, some Maoists might decide to celebrate. I can’t go everywhere!” thereby raising more suspicion about his identity.

Soon, the cat was completely out of the bag, when a protester asked Santa, “What gifts have you brought for all of us, Santa?” to which Shinde replied, “Here beta, I’ve brought free application forms for India’s Direct Cash Transfer Scheme – one for each one of you! Ho ho ho! Merrrrrrrry Christmas!” Chaos soon ensued at India Gate, in the midst of which Shinde was heavily lathi-charged by the Delhi Police.
